Another approach could be, to install VMware workstation first on the Laptop (on Windows x) and then install ESXi as a virtual machine inside it. In this way you will not need to bother about the underlying hardware of your laptop. But this will be with a performance penalty. I am not sure what is your use case. But for some training or basic evaluation it should work OK.
